“That’s our house!” when I saw the ad for a 13′ Jack Skellington from Home Depot.
My outside voice
Being huge Disney fans and smallish fans of the 1993 stop-motion animated film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and especially the characters such as Jack, Sally, Zero, and Oogie Boogie, the leap to planning a seasonal display for Halloween around a 13′ tall Jack Skellington was easy.
What really got me excited about creating this seasonal display for Halloween were the pictures advertising Jack on the Home Depot website. Our recently completed new-construction house is one level with 5 large, square columns on the front porch, two large windows in the front room facing the road, and two peaked eaves forward-facing.
In the first picture I saw advertising Jack Skellington on the Home Depot website, the home in the picture ad behind him has columns, red windows on the main level, orange ‘lanterns’ on the wall next to the door, and dormers on the second floor with red windows.
A half second after saying, “I want a 13′ tall Jack Skellington!” I said, “That’s our house and we can make it look like this picture!”
